One Production Line. Ten Years of Reliable Mid-Autumn Delivery

01 | One Peak Season a Year. More Than a Test of Mooncakes.

For the food industry, the Mid-Autumn Festival is more than a seasonal sales peak. It is a production challenge that cannot be delayed or repeated.

Orders surge within a short period. Production lines must run continuously at high cycle rates. Any unexpected downtime can disrupt delivery schedules and put brand reputation at risk.

As consumers demand higher quality and more reliable delivery, food manufacturers face a challenge that goes beyond producing faster.

The real challenge is maintaining stable, consistent production and reliable delivery throughout the peak season.

For modern food manufacturing, competitiveness is not just about efficiency. It is about certainty.

02 | When Every Mooncake Needs to Arrive on Time

As a leading food brand in South China, Likofood has long prioritized quality while continuously upgrading its manufacturing capabilities.

Mooncakes, however, are highly seasonal products, with production concentrated within a limited period. Before the Mid-Autumn Festival, packaging lines must process large volumes of orders within a tight window.

This means a packaging system needs more than high throughput. It must also deliver reliable, long-term operation.

Three core challenges stood out:

Sustained High-Load Operation

Packaging lines need to run continuously for weeks during peak season. Equipment must remain stable to avoid downtime that could affect overall delivery.

Consistent Packaging Quality

Multiple processes—including box opening, cartoning, orientation inspection, labeling, and case packing—must meet consistent standards while minimizing variation caused by manual operations.

Growing Labor Pressure

Packaging involves numerous processes. Traditional manual operations struggle to meet peak-season capacity demands while increasing recruitment and management costs.

03 | Redefining Reliability in Food Packaging

To address the food industry's core challenge of reliable delivery, QKM did more than build an automated production line. It rethought what a food packaging system needs to deliver.

Robots do more than replace manual packaging tasks. They provide a foundation for consistent quality, stable production cycles, and continuous operation.

QKM developed an integrated solution covering robotics, vision inspection, automated conveying, and packaging processes, enabling the entire packaging workflow to move from experience-driven operations to system-driven production, and from manual coordination to robotic collaboration.

For food manufacturers, automation is not simply about higher efficiency. It is about maintaining consistent production performance, even at the peak of the season.

04 | A Robotic Packaging Line Built to Run for More Than a Decade

QKM built China’s first fully robotic automated mooncake packaging line for Likofood.

The line comprises 5 workstations and 17 process stages, integrating robots, vision inspection, and automated conveying for fully automated packaging.

With a packaging capacity of up to 3,600 boxes per hour, the entire line requires just 4 operators for supervision, significantly improving packaging efficiency while reducing reliance on manual labor.

More importantly, this is not a short-term demonstration project. The line has continued to operate reliably at Likofood’s production site for more than a decade.

Season after season, it has withstood the high-load, high-cycle demands of the Mid-Autumn Festival peak, delivering the long-term reliability needed to keep food packaging production running.
